A school district in Santiago needed bins that could handle the coast. Salt air eats through steel within two years. Carlos Reyes runs maintenance for 18 schools. He said they'd been using whatever was cheap and replacing them constantly.
He started looking for plastic alternatives earlier this year. Found us through a trade listing. Ordered one sample first – 240-litre HDPE, UV-stabilised, grey body with colour-coded lids. Blue for recyclables, red for hazardous, grey for general waste. He tested it for two months in a school near the ocean. Bins got knocked around by kids, filled and emptied daily, sat in direct sun.
He called to say he'd take 320 units.
Each bin has printed icons in Spanish and English. Back wheels for moving them around. The first batch went out last week. He's rolling them out across all his schools. He said the old bins had no labels – staff and students just dumped everything together. Now they sort.
We kept 410 extra units in stock. Same spec. Nothing fancy, just bins that don't rust. Anyone wants to try one, we'll send it.
